Travelling with Feliway with your cat
Will you be travelling with your cat in the near future, e.g. to the vet or because you are moving house? Feliway can make the journey a lot more pleasant for your cat. Feliway is available in a spray and a vaporiser. The special odour (odourless to humans and other animals) that is used is a synthetic copy of the pheromone that cats naturally leave behind when they feel safe and comfortable in their environment.
How to use Feliway and make the journey as pleasant as possible for your cat. Our travel tips:
First get your cat used to his/her carrier by placing it in the house a few days before departure. Put in a blanket or toy of your cat's choosing to make it smell familiar.
To avoid nausea during the journey we recommend that you stop feeding your cat at least 6 hours before departure. Your cat should still have access to water. Are you also using a travel sickness remedy? Then you should give this with a small meal, it is not a good idea to give this on an empty stomach.
Use the Feliway spray at least 15 minutes before placing your cat in the carrier. Spray in each corner of the carrier and two sprays on the bottom and top.
Going on holiday or moving house? Make sure you plug in a Feliway diffuser at the destination. This will help your cat acclimatise to its new surroundings.
